Care for your convertible roof

bullet

Clean with a mild soap and water and a soft brush.

bullet

Avoid Amour-all or 303. The shine seems to magnify the suns rays.

bullet

At the first sign that your side cables may be broken, replace them as a broken cable will cause the top to shrink over the doors.

bullet

Do not leave your top down over night. The down position creates the most stress on your top.
Keeping the top up will also protect the interior from the suns rays.

`97 VW Cabrio More on the 1995 Volkswagen Cabrio

VW Cabrio

It is just my opinion but... This has got to be the best convertible for 1995 on the market. Why?   This design has been around for years and years and features 1) insulated roof   2) 1 piece window and top construction    3) Heated glass rear window 4) side window and frame align very nicely   5) Windshield header and "A" pillars are designed and manufactured   in the convertible format and not cut off and covered with a piece of chrome to hide a lot of sins.

Are Cabrio's  car wash proof ?  Always turn on your blower air to increase interior air pressure. Water entering car should be minimal.

If you own one of these cars we have been able to tweak them a bit as far as wind noise and waterproofing. Problem areas on the Cabrio seems to be fit of door windows at "A" pillar, bottom of door window at back end. This car also had a leak in the floor plug creating an awful bacteria smell.

To test your car or potential purchase go threw a car wash with the blower fan on and watch for suds building outside

By the way: You may see information floating around the internet that this is a job for the DIY. Over 30 years experience tells me that this is not the case. If you choose to try it yourself and your motivation is not money but that you are truly polyfacetic then buy the top from the person who may end up doing the job should you face an unexpected challenge. Your risk reward is quite poor because if you mess up the top you will have to buy another one plus the labor.
